One of the most prolific film-makers in the UK, in 2011 alone Jonathan produced half a dozen feature films including crime thriller WHITE COLLAR HOOLIGAN, horror-comedySTRIPPERS VS WEREWOLVES starring Robert Englund and Lucy Pinder, AIRBORNE starring Star Wars’ Mark Hamill and ELFIE HOPKINS starring Jaime and Ray Winstone.
Starting as a film journalist, Jonathan was running a TV channel by the time he was 24, before changing gears and moving into feature film production in 2006 with the acclaimed urban horror movie WISHBABY. Partnering with Martin Kemp to form Black and Blue Films in early 2007, he devised the award-winning thriller STALKER as a micro-budget horror project for Kemp to direct. The film won 3 coveted Scream Magazine Awardsm including Best Picture, in 2011.
Under the Black and Blue Films banner Jonathan has produced such diverse fare as comedy JUST FOR THE RECORD, gangster/vampire genre mash up DEAD CERT and apocalyptic zombie blockbuster DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND, all of which were top ten chart hits in the UK and sold all around the world.
After four films with Danny Dyer, Jonathan was the Executive Producer of 2009’s smash hit special interest DVD DANNY DYER’S FOOTBALL FOUL UPS. In October 2010 he won Best Producer at the British Horror Film Awards.
Jonathan also has a ‘Jonathan Sothcott Presents’ imprint with 4Digital Media bringing the best of international horror to the UK DVD market. Current titles include MINDFLESH, THE FRANKENSTEIN SYNDROME and COWBOYS & VAMPIRES with 2012 releases so far announced including ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS and TWO HEADED SHARK ATTACK starring Brooke Hogan and Carmen Electra.
He writes a regular column for The DarkSide Magazine called 'Confessions of a Horror Film Producer.'
